For business owners

Your business is more than a transaction.

You may have spent twenty, thirty or forty years building its reputation. Choosing the next owner involves your people, customers, identity and legacy—as well as the financial outcome.

A different kind of succession

Start with the owner’s priorities.

A good outcome begins with a clear understanding of what you want—not with a predetermined deal structure.

Some owners want to retire completely. Others want to step back gradually, stay involved, support a management team or continue leading the business with more support around them.

Evergreen can discuss a majority or full acquisition and different transition arrangements where they are practical and mutually suitable. We will not promise a particular structure before understanding the business and the circumstances.

Different circumstances

A transition shaped around real life.

01

Full retirement

For an owner ready to step away after an agreed and carefully planned handover.

02

Gradual transition

For an owner who wants time to transfer relationships, experience and responsibility.

03

Continued involvement

For an owner who wants to remain active in an operational, leadership or advisory capacity.

04

Management succession

For circumstances where an existing management team may be ready to lead the next phase.

These are examples, not commitments. Any structure would be subject to mutual agreement, due diligence, professional advice and appropriate funding.

Questions owners ask

Clarity before commitment.

You do not need to have all the answers before getting in touch.

What happens to my employees?

People are central to the value and continuity of a specialist service business. Our approach is to understand the team, support capable leadership and consider employee development as part of the long-term plan. Any specific commitments would be agreed clearly as part of a transaction.

Will the company name and identity remain?

We believe established brands, reputations and customer relationships should be respected. We would consider what is right for each business rather than applying an automatic rebrand.

Would I have to leave immediately?

Not necessarily. An owner may prefer full retirement, a phased transition or continued involvement. The right arrangement depends on your objectives and the needs of the business.

Would the business be sold again quickly?

Evergreen is being built around a long-term ownership philosophy. Our intention is to build enduring businesses, not acquire them for a predetermined short-term resale.

How confidential is an initial conversation?

We treat initial discussions discreetly and on a no-obligation basis. We do not need sensitive financial or employee information to have a first conversation.

What if I am not ready to sell?

That is entirely reasonable. A first conversation can take place months or years before any decision. Understanding each other early can make future succession more considered and less rushed.
